Biography

Yoko Wang is a PhD candidate at The University of Adelaide and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). She holds a B. Sc. majoring biotechnology with Summa Cumlaude from University of Surabaya – and is an Australia Awards Scholar from Indonesia. Her research focuses on obesity pathogenesis and improvement of prevention and treatment strategies for obesity. In her PhD, she combines a multidisciplinary approach of neuroscience and nutritional epidemiology to understand the relationship between inflammation, appetite regulation and diet in obesity. Besides research, Yoko is also deeply interested in science communication where she combines her passions in science and arts to make science more accessible and to improve STEM education for children, young adults and general public.
