Biography

Dr Soheil Tahmasbi is a research associate at the Priority Research Center for Geotechnical Science and Engineering. As an Early-Career Researcher, she is mainly interested in numerical simulation of engineering phenomena.

Soheil completed her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in Iran where she worked for oil and gas industry and automotive industry for several years. In 2016, she received the Business and Industry scholarship, co-funded by Geobrugg A.G., to conduct her PhD research at University of Newcastle. As a PhD researcher, she worked towards improving the design of rockfall protection systems through numerical simulations.

Since finishing her PhD in March 2020, she has been working on an ARC project focusing on numerical simulation of soil-pipe interaction. Recently, she started working on an industry-funded project where she will be utilizing her simulation skills to improve the design of safety berms used in mining industry.
