Biography

Dr Sarah Hanieh is a paediatric infectious diseases physician and NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow in the International and Immigrant Health Group at the Doherty Institute. Sarah has worked in maternal and child health for almost twenty years in a clinical, research and policy capacity with a number of non-governmental, academic and other international institutions including Medecins Sans Frontieres and the World Health Organization. She has previously spent time working in Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Liberia, South America, Ethiopia and Vietnam, as well as in Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory. She recently took part in the largest all women expedition to Antarctica (the Homeward Bound Project) a leadership, strategic and science initiative for women in STEMM. Sarah is passionate about improving child undernutrition in vulnerable populations and giving unheard voices a chance to be heard. She thrives on delivering engaging and empowering presentations.
