Biography
I am a veterinarian from Chile with an interest in investigating and developing solutions to the challenges that climate change, in special extreme climate conditions presents to livestock, and looking for alternatives towards a more sustainable animal production. For the past 5 years, my research has focused on the amelioration of heat stress by means of nutritional management in ruminants. I obtained my veterinary degree at the University of Chile in 2007, I worked in small and large animal practice in Chile before moving to Australia. In 2012, I completed a Master of Animal Studies (by coursework) at the University of Queensland and in 2017, I obtained a Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Melbourne. In 2018, I co-founded My Little Livestock, a project focused on educational programs and the development of products based on Edible Insects for human consumption.
