Biography
Dr Luana Main is an enthusiastic Associate Professor in Applied Sport Science, and supervises several higher degree by research students. Her research is in the area of optimizing human performance; specifically investigating the relationship between stress exposure (physical +/- psychological), the resultant fatigue, brain-behaviour interrelationships, and the impact on well-being and performance. Ultimately applying these concepts in the areas of elite sport, and physically demanding occupations, with the view to identify early warning signs of excessive stress exposure to ameliorate and manage risk of compromised long term health.
Prior to joining Deakin, Luana received her PhD from the University of Western Australia entitled “Psychobiological monitoring of endurance athletes health and performance”. She also spent several years working in the sporting industry as a coach (swimming, running, & triathlon), and consultant in the space of performance psychology for various sporting teams.
