Biography
I am an award-winning science publisher and entrepreneur. I am the CEO and founder of STEM Matters, a strategy, communication and content consultancy for the STEM and research sectors. We help position our clients as a thought and research leader in their field, whether it be to the government, media, public or industry.
In 2005, I co-founded Cosmos Magazine. During my tenure as CEO Cosmos Media was recognised through 54 awards including twice magazine of the year. I also created educational products and career guides to which 70% of Australia’s high schools and more than 130,000 students.
The launch of Cosmos Magazine was transformative for science publishing in Australia - previously 99% of sales in the sector were to international magazines. Cosmos became the number 1 selling magazine against long established international competitors.
In 2013 I helped establish the Nature Publishing Group team and their strategy for the Australian and New Zealand market and created the global education strategy for Scientific American.
I am highly active in both the science and media community having served on both the Publisher's Australia board and as Chair of Inspiring Australia NSW Committee. I currently serve on the Board of Science and Technology Australia and the Advisory Board for the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision.
