Biography
Dr. Katie de Luca is a post-doctoral research fellow at Macquarie University. She was awarded her PhD from the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle in 2016. Prior to this she gained a Master of Chiropractic from Macquarie University (2008) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) from the University of Sydney (2005).
She leads a program of research on the epidemiology and management of musculoskeletal conditions in older adults, in particular she is the lead investigator for the BAck Complaints in the Elderly: Chiropractic – Australia, an internationally collaborative, longitudinal cohort study following the clinical course of back pain in older adults. She has experience in clinical trials and systematic reviews. She has research interests in improving the delivery of allied health to rural and regional Australians, sports medicine, spinal osteoarthritis, the safety and parameters of spinal manipulation, and global musculoskeletal epidemiology.
