Biography
I have gained skills and knowledge in the trans-disciplinary area of Ecological Economics over the last 20 years, including: i. assessing ecosystem services (ES) applying monetary and non-monetary valuation techniques; ii. developing integrated evaluation methodologies and concepts to better understand the links between ES and human well-being, particularly for Indigenous peoples and local communities; iii. improving the management of natural resources and agroecosystems; and iv. Informing science-policy interface. My background from a local farming community in India, and >15 years of working experience with Indigenous communities across Northern Australia, help me to integrate and underline the importance of traditional (local) knowledge systems of natural resources management with people’s well-being, and to link science with policy applying innovative economic techniques.
