Biography
Judith Dawes is Professor of Physics at Macquarie University, Australia. With interests inĀ lasers and laser applications in medicine and dentistry, she researches light interactions at the nanoscale. Her research achievements include the developmentĀ of a new laser material, Yb:YAB, and the invention of a laser-cured protein solder for microsurgery. She is Director of MQ Photonics Research Centre, which is a national partner of choice for industry-focussed research in optics and photonics. Active in promoting Women in STEM, she is a former President of the Australian Optical Society and a Fellow of SPIE and OSA.
