Biography
Dr Eleanor Gates-Stuart has a spectrum of roles, particularly in research relating to the sciences, technology and art, working with major research organisations, museums, education, business and government.
Professor of Creative Industries at Charles Sturt University and an Honorary Professorial Fellow with the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts, University of Wollongong follows her completed Professorship in Technology and Art (Techno Art) at National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan). A previous Visiting Scholar the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (Australian National University), specialising in visual media and science communication. She was awarded the 2016 Scitech Innovation Art, scienceart commission ‘Under the Surface’, supported by Rio Tinto Innovation Central, WA.
Her scope of creativity and production is extensive, constantly questioning and engaging the audience in new and innovative ways through her artistic practice. Works include: interactive exhibits, content development, application of innovative materials, design, print, publication and film works.
Dr Eleanor Gates-Stuart’s collaborative science art research projects and commissions have received international and national support, acknowledge by both Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government and Australian Government. Her international artistic profile and research includes roles: professor, visiting fellow, curator, exhibitor, director of media and science arts events. A regular contributor to numerous professional associations, collaborating, publishing and presenting papers: UK, USA, Taiwan & Australia.
Her interdisciplinary research is diverse and collaborative, having a PhD awarded in Science Communication (Science & Art) at the Australian National Centre Public Awareness of Science at the ANU, in association with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
