Biography
My work uses genomic sequencing technologies to improve blood product and transfusion safety.
I lead projects on transfusion-transmitted infections and emerging risks, with a focus on how genomics can be used to complement routine testing strategies. I am also involved in projects examining blood group antigen profiles from donors of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
I obtained my PhD in Molecular Microbiology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). I currently hold an adjunct position with QUT, and am active in undergraduate teaching in microbiology and molecular biology. Additionally, I have supervised a number of postgraduate students from QUT, University of Queensland and University of the Sunshine Coast.
