Biography

Dr. Karthika Krishna Pillai is a Lecturer in Engineering at the Charles Sturt University in regional NSW. Karthika completed her PhD in Coastal Engineering on the overtopping of berm breakwaters and the influence of climate change on the performance of breakwaters. Her research involved physical modelling of coastal structure, developing predictive models using data analysis techniques and the impact of climate change on the performance of the coastal structures.

Karthika is interested in continuing her research in water resources to help regional communities to mitigate the water-related issues and thus give back to society. She is also interested in exploring the possibilities of integral education as pedagogy for the engineering curriculum.
