Biography
Founder and CEO of The Studio, an anchor incubator in the Sydney Startup Hub. Chantal has 30-years’ experience in the media, entertainment and digital technologies industries, starting her career at ABC television in Sydney, specialising in factual and documentary programs. A decade later, based in Europe for five years, she produced work for international broadcasters across UK, Europe, USA and Asia. The excellence of her work has been recognized through various individual awards, including the Walkley Award and the UK based Rory Peck Trust. As Associate-Producer, team awards, include the Logie, Walkley and Atom Awards.
Findings from Chantal’s Masters’ thesis research completed in 2014, Inventing the Future: Accelerator Programs and the Screen Industry, with Time Warners’ accelerator program as a key case study, led to her establishing The Studio Ltd in November 2015. In 2017, The Studio received co-investment from the Federal Government and support from the NSW State Government, through Jobs NSW as an anchor tenant in the Sydney Startup Hub (https://sydneystartuphub.com/residents). Building the non-profit organisation from the ground up, The Studio is now supported by more than 20 local and global partners and sponsors and is a founding member of the Sydney Culture Network (https://www.sydneyculture.org/).
In 2019, Chantal was a finalist in the Telstra Women’s Business Awards, "For Purpose & Social Enterprise" and a finalist in the B&T Women in Media Awards in two categories, "Entrepreneur" and "Social Change Maker". The Studio was a finalist in The Telstra Business Awards, "For Purpose & Social Enterprise"; and in the NSW Business Chamber Awards in two categories "Excellence in Social Enterprise" and "Startup Super Star".
