Biography
Amy Shepherd is a final year PhD candidate at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, interested about improving the way treatments for neurological diseases are tested, glial cells and communicating her science around the world. She studies Alzheimer's disease using specialised touchscreens for mice with Dr Emma Burrows and Prof Anthony Hannan. Previously she has researched the how the immune system fights cancer and parasites. She is passionate about equality and diversity in science and was previously the President of Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) at the University of Melbourne. She is also a vocal advocate for science outreach and communication, and has been involved with Pint of Science, Famelab, AMPlify Ignite and more!
