Biography

Alex Kingsbury is an Additive Manufacturing Fellow at RMIT University where she leads Engagement for the RMIT Centre for Additive Manufacturing.

Previously Alex was the director of CSIRO’s Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre ‘Lab22’ and the Research Group Leader for Additive Manufacturing. In these roles she oversaw CSIRO’s additive manufacturing research projects, both strategic and industry funded; she was also responsible for implementing a program of local industry engagement, the first of its kind in Australia. Alex has worked more broadly in metal technologies including additive manufacturing since 2011, specifically her focus in in powder and wire-based additive manufacturing technologies.

Alex is comfortable in various media and communications settings; she has extensive presenting experience, including expert talks, convening conferences/seminars, and hosting panels. Alex has been interviewed for live TV, radio segments, and podcasts. She has also written numerous articles on advanced manufacturing for many media outlets both locally in Australia and overseas.

Alex’s volunteer roles include sitting as the independent expert on the Standards Australia Additive Manufacturing Technical Committee, Chair of Oceania for Women in 3D Printing, and TCT Expert Advisory board member. Alex holds a Bachelor of Engineering from RMIT University in Melbourne; she is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
